About You

We are looking for a dynamic and ambitious test professional to join our growing team of world-class engineers, who will make their mark on our smart actuator technology. The role will report to the Firmware Group Lead, who heads up our team developing leading edge embedded control solutions for our technology.

We are looking for someone who is passionate, interested and interesting. You will need to be able to play a role in a highly skilled team, finding efficient ways to solve problems and ensure quality whilst balancing the needs of multiple products and projects.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead a  team of mechanical, control, electronics, firmware and systems engineers at CML to build on the proprietary SMA automated test solutions to improve product quality, efficiency, results tracking and traceability.
  • Writing test specifications, test scripts and defining test cases to evaluate and verify our proprietary Hardware, Firmware and Software systems.
  • Expand CML’s automated testing infrastructure and contribute to the testing software which provides testing capabilities across the company.
  • Improve the methods and procedures to enhance our ability to deliver successful products.
  • Apply testing methodologies and ensure the quality of CML’s products.
  • Investigating failures found by the automated test system and try to solve them.
  • Maintain CML’s automated testing infrastructure.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • BSc or BEng in Electronic Engineering or other relevant degree course
  •  2 years demonstrable leadership in test automation.  
  • Testing of embedded firmware or software
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining automated test cases
  • Defining test plans which ensure test coverage.
  • 4 years’ experience of one or more programming/scripting languages such as C#/Python/bash/Powershell, etc.
  • Configuring and managing continuous integration (CI) systems
  • A high level of competence, integrity, and communication
  • Defect tracking and peer review.

Desirable experience:

  • Understanding of mechanical systems and experience in testing them
  • C# development experience
  • Previous experience working in commercialisation of a product.
  • Hands-on experience in black-box testing
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum continuous development software life cycle models
  • Version Control in a collaboratieve environment
  • Experience of Hardware in the loop testing
  • Experience of Electronic hardware testing
  • An understanding of control system elements (sensors, actuators, controllers) would be useful.
